5K Fun Run

This year I ran my first 5K. You runners out there are probably thinking...ha! Piece of Cake! Well, you just go ahead and think that! The fun part of this race was that I ran with all four of my sisters. We usually do some kind of a girls weekend and Tiff got the brainy idea that we should run some kind of a race or do some kind of physical event together this year--of course not to take the place of girls weekend but to add to it.

They waited a month after Julia was born to start training--and unfortunaltley she's the only excuse I had for my performance. I didn't train like I should have and the furthest I ran was the week of the race and it was only 2. something miles, but I was pushing Julia in a jogging stroller so I thought I'd be just fine!

Come race morning, which was Easter Saturday (yup that rainy morning) I had to drag my bootey out of bed to be at the race by 7:30 to get our packets and stuff. Kandice made matching shirts with a saying that Cheri made up. You can't tell from the pictures so I'll tell you what they said:

Running Shoes....$70

Custom T-Shirt....$10

Running with your sisters...Priceless

and then on the front they had whatever number of sister we were (I'm #4 out of the 5)

It was a fun race and we all stayed together...until I hit the Mile 2 mark. I had to take a breather and walk a bit while Trudi, Kandice and Tiff kept going (thank goodness Cheri stuck with me). I won't give all the details of the race but that's pretty much how we finished. Trudi, Tiffani and Kandice came in under 30 minutes and Cheri and I finished 20 something seconds after. My time was 30:22--I figured that was alright for my first real race :)

They gave awards for the different age groups. Trudi, Cheri and Kandice all took one of the first three places in their age category so they won something. Tiffani and I...well, just won the fact that we ran a race together.

Manic Monday Upgrade

Growing up with four other sisters was soooo fun! We all shared the same bathroom in the mornings when we were trying to get ready for school and we were the best at making up dances in the front room. You would think with five girls in the family one of us would have ended up being a dancer....but....NOPE! The closest anyone got was Cheri doing cheer in High School. I don't know if my older sisters thought it was fun or not but every once in a while (if my memory is right it was usually on Sundays) we would find one of our favorite songs and make up a dance to it--choreography and all. "Manic Monday" was one of the most memorable although to this day I don't remember the moves as much as I remember how cool I felt to be doing a dance with all my sisters in the front room TOGETHER!
It's good to know that time can't change us. Tonight we were together because Tiff's oldest boy was baptised and tonight we made up the greatest dance possible while we wrestled with babies and kids. We each got 8 counts worth of music to make up the dance and add to it. That's where the real fun is....making up the dance. We missed our oldest sister, Trudi, being there but added a few extras (three of my nieces) for more of the fun. You should have seen our kick line! We are just sooo amazing and I still don't know how our husbands got so fortunate to have the beautiful and talented dancing wives they have.
Thanks girls for a fun evening and a quick flashback in time. (that makes me think about the movie flashdance--we should rent that and get some moves from it! I'm sure we can still move our feet that fast!!)

Muzzle Loader coming to a close

Well, Todd has been gone with my bro-in-law Dave hunting since Saturday and won't be back until tomorrow....sometime. It hasn't been awful without him but it hasn't been all hunky dory either. I'm having trouble with my four year old being able to listen and follow directions. Now I'm told this is normal but it is sooooo frustrating! Kandice, Tiffani and I went yard sale shopping on Saturday. (here's a picture of all our treasures!) Somehow Tiff got her hubby to take her boys along on his muzzle loader hunt. Gunna have to do some practicing i guess to get Todd to take that hint. Anyway we went to Costco later that day. The dang kid (talking about Payton here) got lost...well...so he ran away trying to be funny. Costco's a bit larger than our house or even Nissons Food Town for that matter so his mom didn't find it a bit funny when she found him standing on top to three stacks high of the tissue paper in the back of the store. He had a bird's eye view of his mom looking for him I'm sure and was probably just thriving on the whole experience of watching me freak out! Well, there's more instances of course but I'm sure excited to have Todd come home so he can deal with him for a little while.
Of course we have done some fun things while Todd's been gone. Last night was probably one of the most fun things. Kandice called me up Monday and said she had a fun idea for dinner and FHE that night. She brought over some Kimono's (sp?) that my bro. brought home from his mission to Japan and we made Chinese food. The boys dressed up and used chop sticks and everything. It was a fun way to have dinner and something different. Payton asked this morning if we were going to have China food again today. Thanks Kandice for spicing up our lives. We just got back from the Rec Center and the boys are zonked out on the couch and their bed so I thought it was a perfect time to do a bit of blogging. I would love to say I'll have a great post on the successful hunt tomorrow but I know Todd a bit better. He's not shooting anything unless it's a monster buck...and do those really exist?

yearbookyourself.com

So one of the girls at work introduced me to a new web site that everyone at the office seemed to get a real giggle out of. So I decided to give it a try on my home computer. Of course I never would put my own picture on the yearbook page so I decided to go with Kandices because she's such a good sport. I think my hair do is from 1966 (which I'm thinking about going back to) and Kandices hair do comes from 1968?? I think?? Try it for yourself!! It's kinda' funny. I think the boy hair-do's are more fun than some of the girls so let your hubby's see how cute they would have been "back in the day". (yearbookyourself.com is the web site in case you missed it somehow)

Girl's Weekend

This last weekend was our annual "Girl's Weekend" which is a weekend set aside for all us sisters (5 of us total) and sister-in-laws (add 3 more) get together and just live it up without any husbands or kids. It's a major event in my current life. I just wanted to tell all the girls involved how much fun I had eating junk, staying up late, playing games, laughing my guts out, eating more junk, and of course becoming the first Sing Star Champion of what may become many more competitions. Here's some totally awesome pictures of the team and some of the events we were involved in. Of course there are pictures of different events on different people's cameras so we're so going to have to combine our powers to make an ultimate photo CD of the greatest weekend ever. The sad thing was that my mom was in Nauvoo and couldn't join in all the fun but that was a blessing in disguise. I don't think we would have stayed up until 3 am or got to go TPing and soaping windows like we did last night. Ahhh. Good times! Enjoy the pictures and videos girls and don't be shy about sharing what you've got on your memory cards. You gotta admit the green shirts are something to be admired!

This classic video is of my oldest, wisest sister Trudi (Gerti) climbing the rock wall at the new Rec. Center. She's so brave and sets such a good example to the rest of us how determination...and a little kicking and screaming...get you to where you want to go in life.

This is Tiff's spectacular climb to the top. She acts and looks like a 26 year old. Just ask the Dead Sea Salt dude in the mall. She must take good care of her skin because she's not lazy. Rock on Tiff!

There's talk of getting the surveillance footage at the rec. center so we can get a good work out on our abs from all the laughter it may create. I don't have pictures of our BB Gun Basket Swap Fun, Playing "your a REAL dumb dumb", shopping for hours, going to lunch, playing Sing Star, or pay back at our Nephews house so I'll b sure to post them when/if I get them.
